It came up in discussion that everyone’s got a different guild tag. Whether it’s to the point or “omg WHO CHANGED IT?! /blush”, everyone’s got a different style for how they use the guild tags.
In my guild, the alts are all designated by two things: their guild rank (we have a separate guild ranking) and then the name of their main as part of the guild tag for the alt. The main character guild tags are all different. Some say who they are (Joe’s RL friend), and some say -who- they are. For me, for the longest time I had ” (Hunter Class Leader)’s Instigator” as my guild tag. Why? Cos she’s say something to me along the lines of “Hmm, wonder if I could pull all 3 of those packs and if the raid could handle it?” or “man it’d be funny to MD onto the healer…” and I’d say “Do it!” Granted, it never took much more than that to get her to actually do it. It was more of a “oh good, someone else will find this funny! sweet!” thing.
What is it now? “NOT (Hunter Class Leader)!!!” She used to have one that said “NOT Siana!!!” Why? Cos The Boyfriend runs with names off on his screen and made the mistake of running up to HCL and /e spanks %t with her targeted. See there’s a small “problem” that she and I look almost exactly alike: same gear, same mounts, same weapons, same hair, same pets. Why yes, we did have fun with him for weeks about that.
So, what’s your guild tag, and why?

Mine says “Warning: No biting or pinching.”
I think that is self-explanatory.
@TJ
Awww, so no poking either? /pout
dinna have one ATM
Mine is “Druids FTW!”
We mostly don’t use guild tags (small guild), but I set that after a guild group (feral-cat druid, moonkin druid, mage) picked up two more druids (feral-bear, tree) to run Durnholde. That was a whole lot of fun. (Oh, and also because of the number of times me and the other guild druid were the only two left standing in the early Outland instances.)
I change mine all the time. I think currently mine says “We can dance if we want to” and then the Officer Note says “We can leave our friends behind”
Mostly our guild notes are there to be fun rather than functional, and we do a lot of “split” notes like that where we’ll have a Guild Note and then a matching Officer Note.
I do try to mention that it’s me in any of my alts, and if somebody doesn’t do the same for their alt, I’ll put it in their officer note: “So-and-so’s alt”, just because I have a hard time keeping track. Even so I’ll have fun with my own alts; “Tawyn’s alt (ZOMG NOT A HUNTER)” or “Tawyn’s alt (HUNTER IN DISGUISE)”. Heehee.
For some reason mine is “sneaksneakstabstab”…it was set when I joined my guild and has been thus ever since…I really have no idea why…
All of my alts have the more accurate tag of TROLL! since I am notorious as the guild forum troll.
@Pike
Great… now I have that song stuck in my head.
@Teh Khol Abides
Ah the mystery message. Been there, done that, in a previous guild. ::grin::
When the druid gets to a higher level, I’m debating moving him to my guild’s server. The economy’s rather good on the one I rolled on, however, so I may have to milk the bejeesus out of that first.
My guild tag was, at numerous points, the following:
Keyed for Kara…by next Expansion
Still in Azeroth
ZOMG! Track’s in Outland?!?!
Still not 70
My Grandmother levels faster
I am gay…no, seriously, supergay
has a Jewish Wind Serpent (as it refuses to eat anything not kosher, and won’t raid on the Sabbath)
Pwnthos, the Asskickateer
Le Track es Back!
@Trackhoof
lol! love some of those.
@ Nightravyn - Exactly, I’ve had a lot of guildies come crying to me “YOU’VE GOT THAT SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD!!” and it’s great, great fun
@ Nightravyn - awesome post.
@Pike… what an awesome way to drive people crazy. I have it in my head too.
@Track - you rock. I can see your guildies putting those up periodically just to drive you nuts.
My guild note is “Living Legend - Tank”, colored orange.
Because I used the awesomeness of Girl Meets WoW’s post telling us how to make colored guild notes here.
http://girlmeetswow.blogspot.com/2007/12/re-write-your-guild-note-or-gmotd-in.html
So I put up a lengendary colored guild note, and watched everyone freak for weeks cause I was the only one.
I shared the secret…e ventually.
I do wish I would have used Blue and put “Game Master” in the note, and then screwed with new guildies for a while. but I didn’t think of it til too late.
@Pike
Doooom… DOOOOOM! ::shakes tiny fist at you::
@BBB
Thanks! And I’ve been tempted to have the Hunter Class Leader (since she’s an officer and i’m not) go in and color a few tags just so we can giggle our brains out at the chaos. Oh yes, there’s IS a reason I was called “Instigator”. ::grin::
