@Harl
Oh god, the BRS cliff. I remember a rather impressive wipe there too. As for the pets attacking from behind, oh man. I remember the Hunter Lead and I talking then poking the tanks and saying "Ahem, changes to pet pathing, so pull back the mobs a bit closer to us." "Why?" "PBA" "Huh?" "Pet Butt Aggro." Within 3 pulls, we had our first case of PBA and all pulls since then have been adjusted for the silly pets trying to get behind the mobs. Go go PBA!

heh, as I was reading this I was thinking of that very same hunter that bell mentioned ;) I still have fond memories of being in SV after wrapping up a big pull and seeing a cat run off into the distance towards the next group of mobs that we were totally not ready for. "uh... where's moonshade going?" "omg call your cat back!" "uh oh..." followed by "sorry! he gets a little excited sometimes..."

I learned the "dismiss your pet or die painfully" rule in blackrock spire. that bit where you hop off the cliff and skip a ton of trolls and such? yeah... nothing reinforces a lesson like having 50-something trolls beat the life out of you. learned that lesson so well that I still catch myself doing it today even though you don't need to much anymore.

my personal "favorite" pet-pathing bug was when they first introduced the change to make pets try to attack from behind. this change hit just as I was starting to run kara and anytime a mob was on a slope or stairs or had it's back against a wall pets would totally freak out and run in the *opposite* direction of the mob. used to scare the crap out of me as I'd see my pet running off into some other room (that may or may not have been cleared) at warp speed...

@Bellwether
Lol! Yeahhhhhh My in-game cats have been responsible for some interesting deaths. I think my favorite one was when the pet pathing was still REALLY wonky and you were never quite sure if the pet would follow you off the cliff/jump or not. Friend was helping me get some quests done in the Hinterlands, specifically getting the egg for the Sunken Temple quests. We'd gotten the egg and were on our way out: a hunter, her pet, and a rogue. It'd been a long hard fight in and we were happy to be leaving that cave. He saw the fast way. "Hop down," he said as he lept off the cliff on the inside of the cave. Hop down I did. But the pet... ohhh the pet. SHE didn't want to hop. SHE wanted to run. And she did... alllll the way down to us, dragging 8 mobs with her, who killed her within 5 steps of us and they all aggro'd on the two idiots staring at their impending doom. He didn't have time to get vanish off and I didn't have time to hit FD.

Ah WoW, the early years...

@Asara
Haha! Awesome. I'll have to tell that to one of our guildies who pulled the Maiden in Kara by tripping over his chair. Good times. :D

We just welcomed into our guild a player who is legendary throughout the raiding guilds on our server for wiping a Mag raid with a hot dog. It fell on his keyboard as he was clicking his cube, as the story goes. Also for dropping a port to Exodar after Gruul's once, and getting quite a few people to hop on in! One of our mages tried that trick Sunday night in SSC, and got five people with it. Good times, good times!

We had a hunter whose pet often had a mind of its own. Most of the time he called it back in time...some of the more painful times, he did not.

At least most of them were hilarious :D
